Thrift Stores and Credit Cards

Uh Oh.

Thrift Store Purchases Could Hurt Cardholders
Some Credit Card Companies Track Purchases At Thrift Stores

That the card companies would be watching purchases isn't news. But that they would use my transactions against me? Ugh.

I wonder what the rest of my transactions say about me? I grocery shop at Giant Eagle - since their prices are so high, that should show that I'm solvent, right?!

  1. I heard about this too. Way to much information available to the retailer and creditors!

Thanks for stopping by and entering my giveaway. I'll announce the winner on Tuesday.

  2. Wouldn't you think the credit card companies would just be interested in whether I pay my bill on time or not. Seems they want to know way too much. Hugs, Marty

  3. Hi Rebecca,
I read an article about this practice ... talk about Big Brother watching ... disgusting!

On a happier note, I read your nice comment. Thanks for stopping by. I loved your story about getting 6 crystal glasses at an estate sale for the price of 3 (because 3 were hidden in the packing material underneath)! I'll bet you WERE giddy!!!

    Have a great weekend!

  4. May be someone who shops at a thrift store is a better risk because he/she is not buying what he/she cannot afford because he/she are being frugal and living beneath his/her means? This way, they will not get into trouble financially. I guess this concept never cross the minds of the bigwigs. Didn't they have any depression-era grandparents?

Buy the way...I love Columbus and miss living there all the time. Everyone is so friendly. I love the Short North, German Village, Worthington, The Whetstone Branch of the Columbus Library System...Krogers down South...Frank Road area. Tee Jay's, etc. etc.

  5. Wow, I didn't know that. Luckily my puny purchases have not yet required a cc. I wanted to stop by and see your white tree and garland...
